wp re-captcha not working right

When a new user attempts to sign up, after the login recaptcha screen comes up this is the warning message

i had to deactivate the WP-recaptcha plugin so users can at least be able to login, but in the login page when wp-recaptcha is deactivated this comes up

Latest reCAPTCHA plugin must be installed and activated first.

So i tried removing wp-reCAPTCHA and reinstalling - still same , right now i have it deactivated until i figure this out . Is it possible my CP update changed the folder it was in ?
