    Adding Custom Content

    I would like to add some custom content to the main page template so that it shows on all pages but I am not sure which file to edit. I have tried on multiple theme files but have not been able to get the content to appear. Any help would be appreciated. Which file should I be editing and where? I would like the content to appear before the featured listings area. Thanks
