Fix category drop-down with WordPress 4.2 on Classipress 3.3.3

Hello,

Need a tip how to fix the vanished category drop-down on Classipress 3.3.3 after upgrading to WordPress 4.2

I know that Classipress 3.4.1 has been released which already address the issue, however, our theme is so customized that update theme and customizing it from scratch would take at latest a week. Our goal is to update Wordpress to 4.2.1 as soon as possible for security reasons. Most of you heard about the critical 0-Day Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability.

We are looking for solution similar to the one that Samcy provided in the following thread for Classipress 3.4.0
