Ad contact name

I had a user list an ad today and she e-mailed me afterwards worried about the fact that her full name was used in the ad as the contact instead of her username. I pointed out that the ad uses whatever name she typed in and she has the choice. I had to change this for her however, since I don't allow edits on my ads..

My point is though, could there be some indication to the seller that the name entered is the one being displayed, or could the field be filled in by default like the e-mail field? The more I think about it, I realise people could assume that the name is just for listing purposes only. They may assume this from seeing (will not be displayed) next to the e-mail addy?

Anyway, hope this makes sense. I suppose I'm looking at it from a privacy point of view as the people here are used to using a popular auction website where people don't see any of their personal information unless they win an auction.. Thanks

The next version due out in May will allow users to edit their own ads which includes their name.

Will we still be able to not allow them to edit ads? I just want to be able to make sure people can't go back and change the information about condition of an item for sale if things turn sour. People can be sneaky that way..

What's the likelihood of that happening?
TBH The 'allow users to edit ads' feature is more important than a few errant users.

Yes, there will be an option to "Allow Ad Editing" so you can keep it turned off.

Ok, so going back to the username thing, what file can I update to show text next to the "name" field to indicate that whatever name they type in is the one which will be displayed?

You'll want to edit the post-form.php page and look for From there you'll be able to find the "Name" and can put some text next to it.
