Add a blog template?

Unless I've missed something (which is very possible!) because posts are used by the theme for the classified ads it is not possible to have a blog as such on the site.

Would it be possible to add a Blog template to ClassiPress that only displays posts in say a 'Blog' category, and exclude these from the main templates? Have done a hack on another theme (ShopperPress) to do something similar although this uses a custom field type to achieve the same. Would be much easier to do it via categories. I also really dislike customizing code as makes it a nightmare to upgrade so would be fantastic if this could be built into the core program.

The next version of ClassiPress due out approx around the New Year will have a built in blog function
