    Category pricing by features

I had requested this in an earlier post in Pre sales however Im posting once again with a clearer picture of what I want and also thinking long term on how other users can monetize their sites. It can probably incorporated while placing ads. The basic ad let call its vanilla which is item name description pricing etc should have a pricing. If pricing is set to 0 (what I want) the basic ad becomes free. Each additional feature eg. Images, Video, Google Maps. should have price per feature to enable or a price for full feature. This is not the same as price per category that you are planning. It can be integrated into the same which you are developing where each category would have a vanilla pricing , single feature and a full feature pricing. Even if you could incorporate a vanilla or full feature pricing Im sure it would be a very welcome feature. I know it shouldn't be difficult to incorporate vanilla and full feature pricing for each category. When a user places an ad all the details are allowed to be keyed in and then he chooses which flavour he wants Vanilla or Full feature. And when the details are shown if the ad is vanilla it would simply not show the additional information even though it would be available. The users could then pay an upgrade fee to enable Full feature once they have a second thought when ads start receiving hits. Let me know what you think.

Good idea. I've got something similar coming with the next release which is a "featured listing" option. Basically you set the price and the customer pays say $5 for the post plus $3 to be featured. Being featured lists you at the top of the category and home page.

What you are suggesting makes sense and I will consider it for later this year. Thanks for the suggestion.

    Re: Category pricing by features

This next release will have a bunch of new features I'm really excited about. I can't list them all but a few highlights include

-new pricing options - Price per category, % of listing price
-user dashboard, edit ads, user profile page
-redesigned header with logo and banner ad space
    -Google maps on each ad
    -and much more.

It is scheduled to be released in 1-2 weeks pending any bug fixes.

you mentioned featured ads will be a bit more. I assume this means that if we decide to offer free listings, we can still offer a featured price.

    Re: Category pricing by features

I've been looking over the theme and am very interested in purchasing it for a local classifieds site in our small town (there is no classifieds for our local area at all) But, I'd like to be able to charge for more expensive ads and let the rest be free. Will that work with the new featured ad you are putting in the new release? I suppose I could just do the featured ad thing too, let everything be free except for a featured ad . . . just trying to figure out how I could make some money with the site but still offer most ads for free, since Craigslist is so big around here, I don't think I can get away with charging to place an ad!

Any idea when the new features will be available? I don't really want to buy it until I can offer this option because I'm not good at WP and don't want to have to re-learn everything once new features have been added!!!

Thanks! I love the theme and am looking forward to buying it as soon as the new features are added.

You will be able to set category-level pricing which means you can charge $XX for one category and have the rest free if you like. Another pricing option will be available to charge a flat % based on the item for sale price.

The updated version will be released later this month. It's almost done and I can't wait to get it out!

    Re: Category pricing by features

Are these new features enabled yet? I just purchased my ClassiPress at the end of April, and I'm not seeing these in there. I would LOVE to have pricing per category. I haven't advertised my site yet, because I want this option first. Please advise.
