Classipress 2.9 as a theme framework

I think that with the growth potential Classipress has, it might be worth investigating converting it into a core theme framework, so that developers can build child themes on top of it. This seems to be the direction of WP themes, and in the long run it might allow for smoother upgrading down the road.

Interesting idea. Can you give me a theme or site I could read more about this on?

interestingly enough, I was just looking over this post which has a comparison. http://www.wptavern.com/comparisons-bet ... frameworks

that might be a good starting point.

One of the themes i use is flexsqueeze

    This approach is really neat.

The developer version license agreement also creates an incentive to develop.

It also has an import / export function for config that enables the skins to be implemented easily

just upload the images apply the config file and it's done.

If you go down this path i will happily buy an upgrade to the next developer version.

I will be setting up my new dev site in the next day or two. So if you want to have a look let me know.

Flexsqueeze also supports multiple templates so the architecture as a whole is as good as i have seen.

    There site is http://www.flexibilitytheme.com/
