    link instead of email id?

Ok. here is a feature request that might not be useful to a lot of other people.

currently, email is the only way a potential customer can contact the poster.

i had like an option that would allow poster to leave a link to purchase the product instead of email...

this comes handy for people who are selling through their own website and have a payment gateway on that store. dunno if that makes sense for a classifieds service...

the other thing i was thinking... people can post products they want to sell. what about people who want to buy something? i believe they should have an option to make a post with their requirement?

again not sure if this is something that a classifieds service should have!

Your posters can just paste a url in the description box. If you enable the "allow html in post" option then your posters can even get it linked up too.

Same goes for people looking to buy stuff. They can post a "wanted" ad instead just the same as a seller does.

Re: link instead of email id?

it still remains compulsory for an individual to post his email id.

also, if i enable html on description the link would get lost in that area and would not be highlighted as the contact the author link on the right side.

also, not every one is comfortable with HTML. if i believe that HTML in Description is to be turned on, we would require a toolbar for that box with possibly rich text editor.

and the link would have to made a referral link to prevent spam link juice leak (whatever it is called)!

also, wanter and sellers should have some form of differentiation. i guess tag system can come handy here! but some form of highlighting would be required.

also... i hope that the template modification would no longer require me to fix all my existing posts manually. the version that was shipped to me was quite a painful upgrade!

    thanks

I agree a specific "URL field " in the sidebar right next to the other contacts could be useful

    cool thanks.

just wanted to say that please make the URL display as encrypted so that it does not pass on link juice so as to speak. it would be sad to see this feature misused for spamming classified sites!

The link will not be encrypted but will have a rel=nofollow tag. This is the correct way to tell search engines to neither follow nor pass any link juice to that site.

right. nofollow would be good enough.
