    More Layout Choices

I know this may be over the top for you... but what I would almost kill for right now is some options on layout. I would rather have a traditional 2 column and a sidebar with categories instead of the wide list and top nav for teh home page and categories. It is ok but it looks a little cookie cutter. It is not hard for someone to guess which theme we are looking unless we heavily customize the code by hand. What would be really sweet would be something similar to Flexx theme where an administrator could eaily pick options on layout. It just would be nice to have easy admin options for setting up a different look.

    Re: More Layout Choices

I understand what you're saying but, personally (and I'm looking at this from a developer POV), I always take a basic theme and develop it to be, almost, unrecognisable.
For my own CP based project I am just completing a fresh new design and will be implementing it in the next month or so.

I understand that a lot of theme users simply tweak a theme a small bit (mainly CSS) but I think that having too many admin options will simply be over looked by the majority.
I've seen a lot of CP projects that are simply the theme with a colour variation. Doesn't make them any better or worse than a fully tweaked version.

CP is not my theme and I have no say in what variations of the theme get released but this is just my view.

    Re: More Layout Choices

I understand what you saying... I guess the learning curve of a new thing gets to me. The flexx template from ithemes is one theme I was highly impressed with and it was really super easy to choose if you wanted a left nav, right nav, sub header page nav, above header categories...etc. etc. It made for a bunch of variations in layout. I understand that this is not that program... and I have to either plow in manually and tweak away or hire someone to help make it work and look exactly like I want. It is just time consuming, and I was just throwing the idea out there that it would be kind of nice to have an option called layout with the ability to pick from a few different ones... not just color. I know it is impossible to please 100% of the people, 100% of the tim e(I am probably the worst), ... but hey... it says feature request. I threw it out there hoping it would stick. If he does it...yeahhh!!!! (life with this is a bit easier!) ...if not...no big deal to me. I'ma big boy.... I understand. Good day

Well, we can, currently, choose by colour so I'm sure the basics, (left hand sidebar etc) could be added as they are simple CSS tweaks.

Do you do customized Classipress themes ?
What about making one similar to this:

That should be fairly straightforward to implement.
I am very busy at the moment but email me and we can talk if need be.
