My Profile Form Fields

In the My Profile page, instead of having (or in addition to) the "about me" field, wouldn't it be more beneficial to include fields for:
city
state
country
age
sex
occupation
income
"heard about site from...."

These could all be optional fields, but if the developer is able to generate consistent traffic, it would be nice to get a feel for the demographics of the users over time........possibly for future target marketing campaigns.

Here in the UK we don't use 'State' and it's always a pain to have to remove it.
also, on my site (and a classifieds site in general) things like sex, occupation and income are not necessary.

None of these fields are necessary, I was just thinking from a demographics standpoint it would be nice to be able to track information on your users.

Again, "State" was just a suggested field.........if new fields were added, there could always be switches to make certain fields active or inactive.

I thought this was a "feature request" forum.........I post a couple of ideas and you immediately disregard as irrelevant without taking into consideration that there might be others that would find these features useful.......I thought that was the purpose of the forum.

Didn't say they were irrelevant, just stating that others have different needs.
For example, if you were aiming for an adult themed site then having an age field in the sign-up form would be good. Not needed by everyone but currently there is no easy way to add this if required.

Also, if you read back you'll see that I was actually agreeing with you in regards to state. We don't use state and it's nearly always a pain to remove so having an admin switch would be good.
