    S3 integration

I think that eventually successful sites are going to run into the issue of storage for all the images we will be hosting. It would be nice to offload the images to amazon's S3 service for sites with larger traffic. There is a plugin that does a fantastic job for offloading media, but it as is, only works from uploading images on the back-end. I haven't looked into too much, and I will re-post what I learn, but with the next release, this option would be nice. I am going to try and work at it myself, when i find some time, but it is new to me, and i am not sure where to start.

Unlimited disk space is just one of the reasons to choose a good host.

    Re: S3 integration

Hey Dubya. I was on dreamhost for a long time, and eventually was so sick of their downtime that I left. And if you are on a shared server, that "unlimited disk space" is actually pretty limited. Don't forget that space is just one factor. Delivery is another. Uptime is another. Dreamhost **** the bed for me so often a few years ago that I will never consider using them or a shared server ever again. I imagine (and hope) that they have become more reliable because they offer so many great features. But for me, I have an everlasting bad taste in my mouth -- hence my rant.

But anyway, S3 is the standard in offloading media. Using a separate server to control media files is absolutely imperative for uber large sites, which a classified site is very capable of reaching. That is my concern. It is not a very hard solution and if it doesn't become an option with CP, I will develop it myself.

    Re: S3 integration

I would definitely like to see this feature.

My website host provides me with the following: 150 GBSpace and 1,500 GB Transfer

I've yet to run a large website, but i expect a few of my CP sites to become very large.

Is 150 GBSpace and 1,500 GB Transfer sufficient for a very large classifieds site with lots of images?

    Hey secretstache.
So far so good with Dreamhost. I have their shared hosting for now, but if the service continues as good as it has been (so far), I'll be upgrading.
As for that taste... I know it all too well thanks to Thinkhost.

I looked into S3 (I'd never heard of it). Pretty reasonable pricing. I hope everyone here in the ClassiPress community needs it one day.
