My 4 Biggie Requests
First of all, I am happy that ClassiPress designers, starting with David Cowgill, are forgiving and even encouraging when we mess with their baby in code mods.
I modded the step1.php to make the Category selection more user friendly on websites where admins like me would not want users posting in the Parent category when we have created sub-categories to further "classify" the ads. Putting ads in the Parent is sloppy for several reasons I won't bore you with here. My mod posted below displays the Parent category name a user may have selected from the dropdown in the Post Ad form while simultaneously creating a new dropdown menu of just the Sub-categories from that selected Parent Category and asks them to make a more specific selection from those sub-categories.

My big 4
1. improve the logic of my mod that took its inspiration from
kmaisch and
scarstens to intercept a Parent Category choice and offer the relevant sub-categories for ONLY that Parent category when Posting a new Ad.
2. Make SURE that an Ad category that has 0 price (even if other Ad categories may have individual prices) does NOT show a Paypal or any other payment button. And it should even prominently say something like "Your Ad is Free!" when the relevant form appears.
3. Not something I want, but, I see so many people looking for this--a MASTER Featured Listing Div wrapper for distinctive styling for all Featured ads. The Classipress dashboard settings would offer the user the choice of "Highlight Featured Ads" YES or NO. If Yes then wherever the Featured Listing is pulled up maybe it would get a differently styled "shadowbox" that can be customized in the CSS style sheet.
4. Just for ME: The ability in the Custom Fields to also create Multiple Checkboxes and Multiple Radio buttons. And when either choice is selected I can create 7 (or whatever number) of Checkboxes just by pasting in or typing in 7 values separated by commas. On Save those 7 values become 7 checkboxes with fixed values in unchecked status that the User of that form simply selects as are relevant. This is quick and easy for them. When the Ad is displayed what were checkboxes or radio buttons become ordered or unordered lists!
Gracias a Todos!
