Add padding to listings - add more categories to view or remove them

Hello,

Is it possible to get help with two things please.

1. With the listings that show up on homepage or category page, they seem to cut off the image left & right side. Is there anyway to add padding in the container of that space in order to not cut off the image as bad? Maybe shrink image or something so it looks better?

2. There are categories that show up on homepage. For me, I set to show all, but on homepage they show one main and only three sub categories. is there a way to A) add more sub categories to show up on homepage, B) remove categories from homepage altogether.
