Change Header Background Colour

Hi,

I am trying to change the background colour of my header in Classipress. I have been changing the colour code in the Style.css files in the Editor section of WP, however the colour does not change.

I have read through the various open threads but nothing works.

Please advise on the code and exactly where I can make this change. Also, advise on how I can insert a background image if I wanted instead of simply changing the colour.
