Choose Password on Registration Using 3.0.4

Hi,

I am currently running classipress 3.0.4 for my website, and have everything running just the way I want it, which is the reason I am holding off on the upgrade to 3.0.5. Each time I do an upgrade it is a lot of hassle for me, especially as I have recently paid a programmer to get my site into dual language. (I might go for it when 3.1 comes out)

That being said, there is one aspect of 3.0.5 that I would like. Having users choose their own password on registration seems much better to me than the current random password created that usually gets lost in users spam box. Is there a way to just take the code from 3.0.5 and add it to my current site on 3.0.4 so that I could have this function?

Does anyone know which files I could need to change, and how to change them? I don't know anything about coding though. I would only be able to do it if it was just a matter of replacing files. Also, would current users still be able to request their password if lost or forgotten if I changed this?

I did see a post by someone who suggested using the plugin WP User Registration, but I want it to be intergrated into my site and not using the Wordpress logo and design.
