Header BG Image

Hey everyone
Just a quick question hopefully!
Am just having a play ready for site launch in January and am wondering how I would go about changing the bland looking header with a logo to something which takes up the whole top of the page a bit like.... http://www.omplassering.no/

I love the gradient blue and how it ties into the picture but dont have a clue how to go about something like it! Any help would be appreciated.
