Mod the registration?

I am wondering if anyone has tried or thought about modifying the current registration form in the following manner.

Currently to register you have two fields: Username and email address which get automatically added to the posters profile page.

If you added additional fields like first name, last name and phone number(s) etc. you could have that info automatically added to the profile and then auto added to the contact and poster tab when they place their ad.

So when the poster places their ad they only need to fill in ad info because all contact info is in their profile and will be added to the contact/profile tab.

This is completely self serving to my site and design but was wondering if anyone else has worked on something like this or has an opinion.
