Rearrange the display order of photo gallery

I've seen this functionality in other themes and I wonder why it was never implemented in CP themes, I don't think the Gallery feature had much attention given to it, considering that whenever users need to rearrange the order of their photo galleries, they have to delete the phoots and then reupload them in the order they want them to appear, I know CP 4.x offers the option to set a certain photo as featured, but still can't rearrange the order of appearance of the photos for the users on the front-end.

Anyone working on a plugin that delivers such functionality? Allowing the user to rearrange the order of their photos from the Dashboard?
