Thread: Remove the category tab on front page

Remove the category tab on front page

Anyone know how to remove the category tab from the front page? Since I'm using directory layout on this page it seems unnecessary to have a dropdown of duplicate categories, but obviously on all the other pages it's important to have it. Clearly this would be a conditional statement but what and where? Can this be done using the child theme and functions.php?
