Removing the $ sign from the price field

How can I remove the NT$ sign from automatically displaying in the price field, but keep it in the payment options? I have my site set up for payment in NT$ (New Taiwan $) but I don't want the NT$ sign to be automatically put in at the start of the price field when people make a post. A lot of my posts will have text like 'negotiable' or other text, plus many people will add the $ sign themselves so it will double up. Also, after the update to 3.0 if I add the currency cymbal now it doubles up on all existing posts.

I know the simple way to fix this is to remove it from the admin in the pricing section and not put anything in the currency field, but this removes it from all the payment options too. So when it displays the price when creating a post it just shows, 'For Sale - 500' (or whatever the price is set to) The currency cymbal doesn't show up till you get to the Paypal payment page. I imagine a lot of people would not continue to pay for the post unless it is clearly showing how much it's going to cost them.

So, is there a way to have the currency cymbal I set in the pricing section of admin to just not display automatically in the price fields of the post?
