SEO-ifying ClassiPress
I have worked in
SEO since 1999, focusing on Google results. Over the years I did a lot of "deep"
SEO modifications beyond the usual suggestions and was able to place my client sites in the Top 5 to # 1 positions for important keyword phrases in Google and Yahoo in just a few months--going from invisibility to # 1 ranking for the majority of my clients. The rest were in the Top 5 for the most important traffic phrases for their business or service.
Nowadays there are many factors outside of simply rewriting the code of a site and taking advantage of every tweak and scrap of leverage when it comes to keyword phrase "
weighting". However, Google and Yahoo have not changed the importance of bringing fresh and "
relevant-to-the-website" content in dynamic sites to the top of the page code.
ClassiPress is a great theme that I am modifying to bring the actual Ad content much much closer to the </head> tag.
It will give me,
SEO-wise, a chance for a much higher ranking than I would have without those modifications, while keeping all the ClassiPress goodies ergonomically at hand for the user.
Once I have completed the re-design and ready to put it online I will be back to show you what I accomplished.
I also modded ClassiPress to display all my Ad Categories (Community Classifieds) in a right sidebar with rounded corner tabs only displaying the top-level names for my Ad Categories . Mousing over them slides open the tab to reveal the sub-category links to the sub-category pages. Thanks to jsquery they adjust dynamically for just the needed area to display a different number of sub-category links per Ad Category. This mod greatly compresses the space needed to create an Ad Category navigation bar.
Thanks David and those of you who have helped develop ClassiPress. Now, please don't make me hack this again just so I can have an
Upgrade to Featured Listing option after a listing has been posted.
