Sort Custom Field Drop-Down

Hi,

My website is a dog classified ads site, I created custom field 'cp_breed' that will be displayed as drop-down. I have filled it with a list of some breeds (sorted by name manually). But whenever I want to add new breed entry, I believe I have to insert it to the end of the string to maintain that existing ads won't be affected. But the problem is that the breeds won't be in correct sorting order anymore. How could I modify the front-end (post new ad step 1) so that the drop-down for the custom field will be displayed sorted by name.
