Turn off autocomplete in search

Hello,

I read this thread about how to turn off the autocomplete function when entering a keyword into searchform. The solution mentioned in the thread is not usable anymore because otherwise the category selection via dropdown menus doesn't work anymore (when posting an ad).

Which other way is there to turn off the autocomplete function just for the searchform?
