Adding custom fields

Ok, before anyone thinks this is another duplicate post, its not, I checked throughly

I found this tutorial on adding custom fields, however, its for v2.8:

I would like to add two custom fields in v2.9 - and I don't want them to be drop down boxes either.

Are there any tutorials for adding extra custom fields for v2.9?

That tutorial should work the same for 2.9. The line numbers might be different but it's basically editing the same files.

Finally worked on this and must say, it works brilliantly.
