It is most likely that your SMTP email fails because your ISP does not recognize the "from" address so it would drop the email. Make sure the actual "from" email account (you've setup in WordPress as admin email) exists otherwise you will have to change it to something that does.

If it still doesn't work you should contact your ISP and/or look at the mail logs to dig into it deeper.
