David does OpenID work with classipress?

Hi,

I want users to be able to use their email id as the username and a password while registering. I have managed to accomplish this by hacking core files. However this might be a bad idea in the long run as updating wordpress can cause issues. Before I write a plugin to do the same. I would like to know if someone has used Open id if that waorks I can save myself the trouble and just use OpenId. However it seems Open id is compatible only till 2.8.5 and there is mixed opinions about 2.9.2. Any thoughts?

I haven't tried it myself, but have you maybe tested any of the existing OpenId plugins available? http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/openid/ Or is this the same one you mention that possibly isn't compatible with the latest WP?

In the compatibility 5 people say it works 6 people say its broken. Besided the theme too has to work with it.
