Re: HELP Categories are All Whacked Out

The above posters business partner here.

If you click on the above link, you'll see something very odd going on with the page there.

This is happening on every single category page. When one clicks any of the links on the right hand side, the page just appears as a jumbled mess.

The website is due to launch on Monday so we would both appreciate a hand with sorting this out - if you would be so kind.

We really do appreciate, in advance your kindness in giving us a hand with this.

    A great deal of thanks.

PS - Whilst I'm at it too, for the first 3 months, that is until the end of the year, as part of our special opening promotion, we are offering everyone the opportunity of posting on our marine classifieds website their ads at zero cost.

I signed up as a test user using an alternative email address and went to post a classified test ad.

On going to the Paypal page, I entered 0 for the cost, I click on Pay Now and Paypal returns the message saying one must submit a value greater than zero, which kind of defeats the purpose of offer a free promotion on the site.

How does one also get around this little problem please?

Yeah I had the same problem when I went over 2 lines of categories. First suggestion is to try and condense the categories down so that there are sub categories which will appear in a dropdown menu.

Refer to my previous thread about this issue when I had it here, contains fix information http://wpclassipress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=317

    Many thanks for your assistance.

We definitely need all of these categories showing on our homepage, to hide them away is not an option.

    We'll look into your fix.

Many thanks, we appreciate the help rendered and you taking the time to do so.

    Kindest regards.

Try making a few test posts and see if that alleviates some of the problem. I had a similar problem and a few posts made them disappear.

However, with all of the categories you have, you may have to make some edits to the css files or make some sub categories.
Always treat everyone with respect and courtesy, but trust no one.

Making changes to the CSS Files is fine.

Would the original developer of this theme like to advise us of the necessary changes to make and where this should be?

Or someone else qualified to make this call.

    Many thanks.

    Hi Mark-

I just looked at your site and changing the css would not help much for this many categories. It would shrink the font a little but like Pepsi said, the best way to solve this would be to create a handful of 1st level categories and then have several sub-categories.

In version 3.0 due out later this year, it will better handle sites with lots of categories like yours. There will be a drop-down menu which will look like the screenshot on this thread.

Hoakey doakey, if that's the only way we can do it, then that's the best way forwards for now then.

    Many thanks for your assistance.

Enjoy the weekend, what's left of it.

    Best regards.
