How do you add a thumbnail to a old post?

Hi guys I would like to add thumbnails to posts by people who don't add a image initially. How is this done? I got as far as creating a key called Thumbnail in the Custom Field,as well as uploading the desired image to my files, and putting the url in the Value section. After this I am confused. The image I uploaded is 50x50 by the way is this required? Thank you.

When you open the post/ad in the WP Dashboard, there is an "images" field which is where you can manually enter in the URL of the image (ensure you put a comma at the end of the URL) and this will add the image to the ad and create the thumbnail. You don't need to separately create a thumbnail field or image of that size.
