Not displaying my logo

I'm having trouble getting my website logo to show correctly.

How big should my logo-image be?
What format should the image be?
What directory should I save it under on my host?

I know these are very noobish questions. I'm trying to learn quickly. Your help is appreciated.

Not displaying my logo

To be more clear, I'm having trouble with adding my website logo. I'm in my wp admin under classipress>configure. The second configuration down is website logo. I'm supposed to be able to put in the URL of my logo and it will replace the ClassiPress logo but it's just leaving me with a text image of my blog name. View my site to see what's happening, http://darkcattle.com.

In my FTP it has my logo URL saved under:
/domains/darkcattle.com/html/wp-content/themes/classipress/images/dark-cattle.gif

But that doesn't seem to be working when I save that under my configurations in wp. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Yeah, I tried that as well. That's what I currently have saved under my configurations on WP admin right now.

Do I need to do something within wp to activate my images or something?

Did you save that path in the ClassiPress admin panel?

it works if you reference it directly.

I had that path saved without the "http://" but I added it and now it's working. I thought I had tried that prior to posting in the forums. But I guess I was wrong. Frustration must have got the best of me.
