Organize uploads into month- and year-based folders?

I've checked in this option in WP "Settings > Miscellaneous" - but doesn't work.
How can I do this? Because my existing (still non-WPClassipress-based) classifieds site have 6.500 ads with 5 pics per ads.
More than 30.000 pics in one folder pretty much - and not a good job for site speed (imho)...

Classipress just puts them all into one folder. Eventually I'd like to change this so it organizes them into different folders however trying to manage or find a specific image would be harder since it could potentially be in dozens of different folders.

Because Wordpress doesn't delete the pics when I delete the posts, this will be a really big resource claim (weekly 4-500 ads, 5 pics per ad...) within few weeks...
Why don't you use the default Wordpress picture uplod method/functions?

Re: Organize uploads into month- and year-based folders?

It can be done very easily. Actually the better work flow would be what I propose to implement in my upcoming classipress site. Allow image upload and edit only using edit ad. That way you already know the post id and user id. So you can easily modify my custom edit template (http://wpclassipress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=947
) to upload into a directory like classipress/user/post for each post. So when a post is deleted, the entire post directory can set to be deleted to delete images for that post and when a user is deleted all images pertaining to that user can be deleted. Simple.

There is also a second advantage if your ads are paid and users upload images during the regular ad post and they dont pay then these images are going to take up space on your servers. So inactive ads of users who don't respond or have second thoughts you are losing out on space. You can save this space by having image uploads only in the edit ad. It was not earlier possible to have it this way because before last Sunday you couldn't do so using the edit post till my mod
