    PayPal Version To Select

Excited to get started but ran into a question regarding PayPal. PayPal asked me what version is supported so they can tell me what I need to do to set it up. I checked everywhere and did not see it. Will the Standard Business Version Work? Do I need a shopping cart?

PART 2: Looks like you can choose from 3 payment types, will this be set site wide? Meaning you cannot combine a percentage business model with a fee based one?

    Thanks!

    Hi popsoc.
I think you are referring to the type of paypal account you need. I'm pretty sure you need at least a Premier account to use the IPN. That's what I use and the fees are *cough *cough reasonable. It's just 1 step up from a regular user. A business account is not required but it may give you a better rate if you are doing significant volume.

A shopping cart is not needed to sell individual classifieds, and currently, your chosen fee model is site wide.

    Hope this helps.

    Re: PayPal Version To Select

Thanks for the response, I was looking at the PayPal site and it seemed like I needed what they call Website Payments Standard.

    Here is the link: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?c ... ns-outside

I need to open a bank acoount and provide a routing number for transactions. Looks like they charge .30 for each transaction and 2.9% up to the $3,000 a month in sales. Is this correct? What have you learned?

Thanks for your assistance on this.

    Hi.
Ya, I think that is their entry level business account (up to US$100,000/year).

(edit) Darn, you beat me to it.
