    Prototype vs JQuery

I'm looking to use JQuery as I want to implement some custom elements within CP.
As you may know JQuery and Prototype do not play nice together.
    Can I ask 2 questions:
1, Why do you use Prototype (instead of JQuery)
2, Is there a way to convert all the Prototype functions for use with JQuery?

    TIA

    Re: Prototype vs JQuery

I bought the ClassiPress business last month from the original owner. He chose Prototype and I'm not sure why. Both seem to have their advantages but I also prefer Jquery.

If you wanted to start using Jquery instead you'd have to migrate it over yourself. Some of the syntax is similar but it might not be worth the hassle. Let me know how it goes if you end up doing it.

Obviously this would then mess up any upgrades. Unfortunately I'd rather use JQuery but it seems I'll have to build my own 'extras' to work with prototype. That's a shame.

Don't spend too much time on that because the next version of classipress will be using jquery instead. I've already got it working and will also be replacing lightbox with fancybox which is pretty cool.

Another reason for me to wait until the next version!

Many thanks for listening to reason.

    I should've wait..
Yes, fancy box is the choice of mine too. It has zoom effect without needing to place large img in the same page.

Just to remind you all updates are free so you don't have to worry about it.
