Separate listings page for category and search results

    Hi there!

I have had a thorough look at this forum and I don't seem to have found a similar issue.

I'm working on a modified classipress site that has a list with all categories on the Home Page. I will probably keep a summary with the latest ads.

What I want to achieve is the next. When a user clicks on a category link or performs a search, the results with the listings should be displayed on a separate page.

I want to achieve this because at the moment, when a user clicks on a category or performs a search, the relevant listings appear below the categories and that is, unfortunately way below the fold...

I hope I'm making myself clear. You can go on the site (http://www.classificats-catala.com/) if you click on a category you'll see that the results are way below the fold...

    Any help is very appreciated!

There has to be someone that knows how to set a custom page for category listings and search results....

It could just be that those who have done what you're asking may not have visited the forums yet..

Yes you're probably right, but surely there's got to be someone that knows, at least someone in the development team...

You could wrap the categories code with an if/else statement and hide the categories.

    For example:
    if page is search
    show (nothing)
    else show categories

Google if/ else +wordpress or look through the codex.

thanks!, sounds like something worth trying... is that what you did with your spacespare.com (nice site btw) site?

i see that when you perform a search the content of the HP is replaced by results...
    cheers,

    J

No. All my categories are in the drop downs so they are displayed differently to the normal route.

Ok, thanks, in all cases, what I'm trying to achieve is similar to what you've achieved on your site. I probably didn't explain myself properly (a downside of not being a native English speaker)

I don't want ads to be displayed in the HP, but rather in specific pages, pretty much what you have on your site..

    Thanks!
