    user emails not sending - can anyone help?

    Hi there,

    I've nearly got classipress ready for the public but upon testing have found that the registration, forgotten password, and classified inquiry emails are not being received by the users. They all post through successfully from the web front end. However, I do get the admin emails - the auto generated emails when a new user has joined, new posts etc. Am I missing some setting in the WP admin section?

    Oh, I'm running this off my own OS X server - with not that much knowledge regarding servers ;-P

    UPDATE:

    Looks like some of the emails are sending but going straight into the junk folder (if not deleted completely). Is this to do with the server settings or within WP/Classipress?

    It's because your email provider thinks it's spam. Make sure the email address you are sending it from is from the same domain you've got classipress running on. Spam filters see that as a red flag if the mail sending domain doesn't match the from email domain and they usually trash it like your instance.

    Thanks for your reply.

    Problem now solved and all emails sending correctly - had to enable virtual email hosting for my domain. Also using the wp-smtp plugin.

    my contact form works, my new user registration works but it does not send the password...any thoughts on why some work and why some don't....it is only password emails that are not generating. thanks

    Are you having this problem with v3.0.2? Just checking because you have posted in an old topic in the legacy support thread..

    yeah...I am an idiot...I just did a search and didn't really pay attention to the version.... I do have the newest version.

    I am getting ALL emails that I am supposed to get ACCEPT the users password when they register. Even the lost password I am getting just not the registration password. I was getting it before it just quit. Have tried about five different new email accounts to test and has not worked over a 24 hour period.

    I would still have to say that David's response above ^^ is usually where the problem lies.. Are all the test emails your sending from the same email provider or have you tried various ones?
