Do you require your users to register to create an ad?

    All,

A general question - do you require your users to register on your Classipress site before posting an Ad?

I decided to turn this off as it didn't seem a seamless as I had hoped and I don't want to confuse anyone. I think it's VERY important to capture user information though, so I really would prefer a way to capture their contact info.

Just curious to see what others are doing.

    Thanks,
    Robert Kibbe

I recommend using it so you can keep track of who is posting what. It will also be important in the future when the edit/remove ad options are released. Your posters will have to have an account in order to manage their posts.

Ah - alright then. What version will provide the 'Edit' capability to the user?

Some users have already implemented such through custom coding. You may try searching for it here in this forum. I will also post the link when I find it.

Bump, I'd also like to use this... simply allow to post with just an email address emails send confirmation each post etc... but if you signup you can easily edit all your posts... what would be nice to see if possible if when signing up to recognize previous posts from that email address to put them into their accnt, not start blank.

Forcing people to have an account is a huge turnoff for most and a loss of activity in whole. Shouldn't be a requirement.

Yes the previous version of ClassiPress (pre 3.0) didn't require user registration but this has since changed.
The out of the box version of ClassiPress now requires users to register to post, however other members of the ClassiPress community have created their own mods for this..so these threads may be of interest to you:
