    Switching the 'Search Box' around.

So a client wants to remove the big search box in the header and replace it with advertisement space, then create a small search box in the place of the "my dashboard | login/logout" section up top. It should look like this

Any ideas on how to to remove the search box? I'm sure I can replace it with advertisement code once it's removed but I can't find the search box code anywhere. Also, do you think it should be a fairly easy task to add a search box up top? I know from previous experience that search boxes have been a pretty big hassle.

    thanks
