Search Bar Customization

Hello!
Your theme is awesome and I'm currently using it for my site.
I was wondering how you customized your search bar?
1. make the width of the "what are you looking for" input box longer
2. make a customized combo box drop down menu for the categories. (I saw in the page source that you used a <a> tag with a picture of the arrow to replace the original. But I dont know where to make these edits.

Edit: I figured out how to change the width of the search bar but I still don't know how to change the drop down.
