Child theme after upgrade to 3.3.1

Hi

I am working in a test area to upgrade Classipress from 3.1.9 to 3.3.1 and I have a couple of questions:
1-All of my child theme pages such as header, etc are in the child-theme directory but none seem to be applied - do I need to rebuild those with the corresponding 3.3.1 pages to have them work?
2-I cannot remember or cannot find where to configure the home page. The new 3.3.1 has Posts (nantuckethistory.com/classifieds). My original site has categories and the tabbed feature for Just Listed, Random etc. (nantucket.net/classifieds) I've been poking around the documentation and forums but can't find this. Please point me in the right direction!
