Help with using classipress theme

Hi Support,
It has been three weeks I have been having issues with users being able to post ads and not making much headway.
1. When registering, users are getting a message to check their emails for the password but no emails nor passwords are being sent to their emails so no one has been able to register.
2. Users were told they cannot submit listings so I change the "new user default role" from "contributor" to "subscriber" and they are being given a message saying "You are not allowed to submit ad listings". Which option should I choose for new users and are there any other options I need to configure for them to register?
3. I keep getting fictitious user and ads being placed very frequently on the site. I install "wordforce: and "SpamAssassin" and reCaptha and it has managed to reduce the attacks somewhat but I am still getting fictitious users emails that they are registering.
I have been battling with hostgator about these and other issues but the users still do not have the ability to log in to post an ad. Can some one please assist?
