How to change form fields to required inputs

Hallo,

I tried to change some of the form fields (create listing) to required inputs with no luck. By default, only title an descriptions are required (indicated by a red *). According to the tooltips I can put in a value for minimum length to make fields required. However, it doesn't change anything. For example: I change the value for minimum length of the zip code field to 4. Even with an empty field I can get to the next step (preview) in the checkout process. How can I change that?
