Importing members

Hello, I need to import about 700 users who fit into about 3 different types of membership types. (Affects the price per ad) I figured I can go into the excel spreadsheet and change their membership name to a number which is the classipress id. Couple things I am wondering:

1. What is the easiest way to import these users?
2. How can I make it so that their password is set to be something that I make it? For example, I would like to make all of their passwords their last name? So when we launch, we just tell them to use their last name as the password?
