Thread: Static pages

Static pages

I've spent so much time on here reading and experimenting with php and css I can't actually work out what I'm sure has already been covered loads of times and is basic WP procedure.

I want to create some static pages: "About", "FAQ" etc. Do I just create a page and name it, write a post and make it sticky? If this is correct, some basic questions:

1. How do I assign that post to that page rather than it automatically going to the blog?

2. How do I actually make it sticky?

3. How can I utilise the full page template and make the text full page without a sidebar?

If this isn't right please can you tell me, or point me to a thread about it.
