Is there a new childtheme tutorial for Classipress 3.3?

I followed the tutorial that Appthemes offers and also Samcy's tutorial but I'm not getting proper results.

1. When I activate the childtheme the menus disappear.

2. Everytime I switch from childtheme to regular classipress theme and vice versa, the default ad reappears, you know the one that says "My First Ad". I keep deleting it but it keeps coming back when I switch between themes.

3. In the Appthemes tutorial it says if you are using a childtheme, disable the core style css in the Settings - Advanced section. I did and all the color was gone from my site.

Not sure if I'm missing something simple or maybe the tutorials need to be updated.
