Why is the number of featured ads limited to 15 (slider)?

Hi,
we've just found out that the number of ads in the featured ads slider is limited to 15. Why is that? These are paid ads. It is very likely that customer won't see what they had paid for. Please, change that. Or, better, integrate it in the theme settings. We had to change a core file, which is not the way to go.
