Install issue

I am having some issues installing the theme..

I tried the following two methods but both of them giving me some problems:

1. I tried install the theme through "Appearance - themes - install themes - upload the .zip file but the 'unpacking the theme' message is taking forever and didn't get me anywhere...
2. I uploaded the upzip files via FTP, clicked on activated theme, but it gives me the following error:

Error 500 - Internal server error
An internal server error has occured!
Please try again later.

I look at the website and it actually has the clipper theme on at the moment (after method#2), but it gives me the Error 500 whenever I tried to login as admin.
