Alert status - Default subscribe to new job emails

I am trying to configure Job Seekers auto subscribing to new job emails. Currently on the form they should check this:

"Check here to Subscribe to email notifications for new posts:"

(that's fine)

However, when you go into the account its showing as "unsubscribed" when it should be "subscribed"
