Background Drop Down Menu and Revise Search Slider

I am need assistance with two things please.

First, where am I able to change the background color of the drop down list of categories and the categories page? I have inspected element and changed it in Directory, but it will not update. Am I not looking at the right place?

Second, the revise search option is gone. Used to be when you had performed a search, in the sidebar it would show up to allow you to use the slider to change the distance radius of your search. It is missing and I have looked through everything to find it.
