Getting Started With Google Maps
Hello,
This is a newbie question, but I've checked the documentation and the FAQs and I can't find the answer.
The Setting up Maps instructions seem to assume that maps are already showing (
http://docs.appthemes.com/tutorials/...g-map-widgets/) but after a fresh install of
WP 3.6 & Vantage (latest) the maps screens are blank. There is nothing under Example Map in the dashboard and now maps show on the sample listings. All the settings in this area are only relevant to a map function that's already operating, so how does the site obtain maps from Google?
In Vantage 1.2, we have moved map settings to a new location: Admin > Vantage > Geo Settings. This is done in anticipation of the soon-to-be-released AppMaps plugin which will allow alternatives to the Google Maps API that comes standard with Vantage. As before, the Geo Settings will control how Vantage works with map APIs to determine locations and distances.
Do I need this plugin now? The description of it in
WP says its for Classipress, so is it needed for all AppThemes or just Classipress?
I've googled for 'setting up Google Maps api' and found the instructions in
https://code.google.com/apis/ but do I need this? If I set up a 'Client ID for web applications' containing the URL of my site, is that all I need to do and just wait for it work?
