Vantage | robots.txt and functions.php | Webmaster Tools
After launching my site I deleted robots.txt from the root and unchecked "Discourage search engines from indexing this site".
Google Webmaster Tools still considers the site blocked by the previous robots.txt
(It appears to me that a set of commands in functions.php directs the site to create a default robots.txt in the root if one does not exist.)
When I check "Discourage search engines from indexing this site" I get:
User-agent: *
Disallow: /
When I uncheck it I get:
User-agent: *
Disallow: /
wp-admin/
Disallow: /
wp-includes/
I have deleted any robots.txt from the root.
and I have "Discourage search engines from indexing this site" unchecked....but Google Webmaster Tools continues to say "URL blocked by robots.txt"
Is my problem?
1. Ignorance
2. Confusion
3. Impatience - I should just wait for Google to recognize that the robots.txt is not in the root.
My frustration is that if I enter
http://bradenton-food-delivery.com/robots.txt into my browser the result is:
User-agent: *
Disallow: /
wp-admin/
Disallow: /
wp-includes/
Thanks in advance.
