    Vantage - child theme has disrupted the layout of the theme

    I followed the instructions for creating a vantage child theme and am accustomed to creating child themes in other sites that function well.
    Once the vantage child theme is activated the background image that was applied to the vantage theme is removed (which I fully expected) but the entire layout on the home page and listing pages is completely skewed with misaligned widgets and empty areas - the layout completely disrupted.
